A bunkie board can be made of plywood so these two are pretty much synonymous.
They can rest directly on the slats of a bed frame without adding to the height or bulkiness of the bed.
Just be sure to carefully place the bunkie board on the frame or you could tear the fabric.
I want to know if i would be able to get rid of the boxspring and just use a bunkie board instead.
People sometimes purchase an inexpensive bunkie board when their bed starts to sag to stave off purchasing an entirely new set.
For a plain metal bedframe like that you ll probably want at least 5 8 or 3 4 inch plywood.
At least that s been the most stable in my experience.
My bed is not a bunkie bed just regular bed frame can the bunkie board sit on the frame ok.

Or do i need to drill holes thru the board and screw the board into the frame.
Whether or not you need a bunkie board depends on the kind of mattress you own.
If your platform bed or bed frame has a solid plywood top rather than slats there is no need for an additional bunkie board.
The good news is that you ll almost certainly be able to find a bunkie board that matches the dimensions of your metal frame which can help deliver the support you need.
Bunkie boards can be placed between the bed platform and the mattress between metal or wood bed slats and the mattress or on top of a box spring beneath the mattress.
Currently i have a full size boxspring and a mattress sitting on top of a metal bed frame.
